Gryphon volleyball women swept by Brock
ST. CATHARINES – The Guelph Gryphons were swept 3-0 by the Brock Badgers in OUA women’s volleyball play Saturday at the Bob Davis Gym.
The Badgers took the sets 25-19, 25-20 and 25-13.
The Gryphs had 11 blocks to seven for Brock, but the Badgers had 46 kills to Guelph’s 32, nine aces to Guelph’s four and 38 digs, three more than the Gryphs.
Lisa Wedel had seven kills, an ace, a dig and four blocks for the Gryphs while Jessica Chung had five kills, an assist, two aces, nine digs and a block and Jade Ziebarth had seven kills, an assist, five digs and a block. Alexandra Proulx had six kills, an assist, five digs and a block, Alexandra Meshcherekova had four kills and two blocks and Alexandra Curran had a kill, 18 assists, two aces, seven digs and two blocks.
Laura Condotta collected 17 kills, two aces, five digs and a block for Brock while Darby Taylor had 13 kills, eight digs and a block and Grace Pyatt had seven kills, an ace, a dig and two blocks.
The Gryphs fall to 3-4 with the loss, good for fifth in the West Division. Brock leads the division at 7-2.
The Gryphs are to host the Toronto Varsity Blues (7-1) Sunday at the Guelph Gryphons Athletic Centre. Game time is 5 p.m.
