Gryphon volleyball women top Windsor to resume winning ways
LONDON – The Guelph Gryphons swept the Windsor Lancers 3-0 in OUA women’s volleyball play Saturday at Windsor’s St. Denis Centre.
After a close 25-23 win in the first set, the Gryphs took the final two sets by 25-15 and 25-18 scores.
The Gryphs recorded 47 kills, six aces and 54 digs in the match while Windsor had 32 kills, six aces and 43 digs. The Guelph side also had two solo blocks and 12 assisted blocks while Windsor had two of each.
Alexandra Proulx had 11 kills for the Gryphs while Jessica Chung and Lisa Wedel had nine apiece. Jade Ziebarth had four aces and 11 digs while Tara Tanasijevic had 17 digs. Wedel was in on four blocks while Chung, Alexandra Meshcherekova and Wedel were involved in three apiece. Alexandra Curran had 33 assists.
Lexi Pollard and Erin Dane each had nine kills for Windsor while Hannah Camrass and Megan Kalbfleisch each had two aces. Amie Slawson had 14 digs and Ally Winik was in on two blocks. Brooke Davis had 24 assists.
The victory got the Gryphs back on the winning track following their 3-2 loss to the Western Mustangs at London Wednesday.
The Gryphs are second in the West Division at 3-1 while Windsor is sixth at 1-3.
The Gryphs are to host the East Division-leading Ryerson Rams (4-0) Friday at 6 p.m. at the Guelph Gryphon Athletic Centre.
