
Gryphon women blanked on Hockey Day in Canada
OWEN SOUND – The Guelph Gryphons saw their five-game winning streak in the OUA women’s hockey league come to an end Saturday when they were blanked 3-0 by the Waterloo Warriors in a Hockey Day in Canada game at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre.
Waterloo scored twice in the first period and once in the second for the win.

Elizabeth Lenardon, Andrea Murray and Tatum James scored the goals for Waterloo while Lyndsy Acheson had two assists and Lenardon, Madison Pritchard and Trisha Cho had one apiece.
Kara Mark had 21 saves to get the shutout for Waterloo while Martina Fedel had 19 saves (11 in the third period) for the Gryphs.
Both teams had four power plays in the game and Waterloo scored on one of theirs.
Waterloo leads the West Division at 16-4-0-0 while the Gryphs are second at 12-4-2-2 and the Windsor Lancers are a point behind in third at 13-5-1-0, but have a game in hand on Guelph.
Saturday’s game was the first of three consecutive road games for the Gryphs as they’re to play the Nipissing Lakers (second in East at 14-2-3-0) at North Bay Friday at 5 p.m. and the York Lions (sixth in East at 5-13-0-0) in Toronto Saturday at 7:15 p.m.
