Gryphons eighth, 11th in Lehigh cross-country races
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Guelph Gryphons finished eighth in the women’s team standings and 11th in the men’s team standings at Saturday’s Paul Short Invitational cross-country races hosted by Lehigh University.
The Gryphs had a score of 272 in the women’s college gold six-kilometre race that was won by the Queen’s Gaels at 130. Adams State was second at 180 and Penn third at 181.
Danielle Jossinet was top Gryph in the race as she was 26th in 20:32.9. Eilish Flanagan of Adams State won in 19:37.1. Other Gryphons included Cameron Ormond in 31st, Sadie-Jane Hickson 53rd, Annika Ariano 85th, Kiana Gibson 94th, Olivia Roussel 119th and Dana Earhart 176th in the race that attracted 369.
Guelph scored 334 in the men’s college gold race. Utah State took top spot at 54 while Penn was second at 152 and Adams State third at 193.
Kalum Delaney of the Gryphs was 27th in the men’s eight-kilometre race in 23:56.2 while Michael Carolan of Father Judge won in 22:15.4. Other Gryphons included Mitch Ubene in 42nd, Mark Patton 82nd, John Perrier 84th, Kyle Madden 112th, Nicholas Bannon 156th, Josh Kellier 161st, Michael Mather 196th and Alec Purnell 208th.
In the open women’s six-kilometre race, Beatrix Maddocks of the Gryphons was 37th in 22:15.7. That race was won by independent runner Cara Sherman in 20:32.5. Emma Hubbard of the Gryphs was 47th and Sandra Guga 86th.
Brady Graves of the Gryphs was 25th in an open men’s eight-kilometre race in 24:54.8. Everett Hackett of Hartbeat Track Club won in 23:46.2. Aaron Canfield of the Gryphs was 59th, Braydon Clarke 92nd, David Poloni 116th, Adam Schmidt 136th, Jack Cooper 145th and Brock McKenzie 187th in the race that had 604 finishers.
