Gryphons KDSL men fall into league’s basement

GUELPH – The Guelph Gryphons were knocked into the basement of the Kitchener and District Soccer League’s Men’s Division standings when they suffered a 4-1 loss to Listowel United Thursday night at Eastview Park.

Jeremiah Weidemann scored twice for Listowel while Adam George and Joe Neves had the other goals.

Guelph’s scorer was not reported.

The loss was the fifth in a row for the Gryphons and it left them at 2-8-0 while the win was the second in three games for Listowel and it allowed the visitors to climb out of the cellar with a 3-8-0 record.

Next game for the Gryphs is a match at Kitchener against league-leading Polish Eagles Kitchener SC (9-0-0) Aug. 19 at 6 p.m.
