Gryphons keep unbeaten mark by sweeping Ryerson
GUELPH – The Guelph Gryphons struck for their fifth consecutive victory to remain undefeated in OUA men’s volleyball play as they swept the Ryerson Rams 3-0 Friday night at the Guelph Gryphons Athletic Centre.
The Gryphs took three sets in a row, winning 25-13, 25-22 and 25-21.
The hosts dominated the match as they had 38 kills, five aces and 26 digs. That was 10 more kills than Ryerson, three more aces and four more digs.
Jonathan Pickett had 10 kills, an ace and two digs for the Gryphs while Zarko Ubiparip had eight kills, three digs and a block and Matthew Baxter had eight kills, an ace and three digs. Arjun Selhi had five kills, three aces and three digs, Ben Kissack had two assists and five digs and Gideon Dresser had three kills, 26 assists and six digs.
Xander Ketrzynski had 15 kills and five digs for Ryerson while Greg Vukets had seven kills and five digs. Saad Shaikh had 23 assists and four digs and Lhexen Rabit had two assists and four digs.
The Gryphs lead the West Division at 5-0 while Ryerson is third in the East Division at 2-2.
Next up for the Gryphs is a match against the Western Mustangs (fifth in the West at 1-3) at the GGAC Nov. 23 at 3 p.m.
