Gryphons OSL U21 Provincial South men out of league’s cellar

GUELPH – The Guelph Gryphons moved out of the basement of the Ontario Soccer League’s U21 Provincial South league with a 3-1 victory over the Burlington Bayhawks Thursday night at Centennial Bowl.

That result knocked the Bayhawks into the league’s cellar.

The Gryphons are at 2-10-0 for the season while Burlington’s at 1-12-1.

Sebastian Gadinski, Ben Vanzant and Barrett Work scored for the Gryphons while Adil Qureshi had the goal for Burlington.

The win was the second 3-1 victory over Burlington this year, the other one coming June 3 at Burlington. It also ended a seven-game losing streak.

The game also started a busy stretch for the Gryphons as it was the first of four games in eight days to complete their season.

The other three are all road games as they’re to play the Ancaster Titans (8-3-2) Saturday afternoon, Niagara Falls Titans (3-6-2) Tuesday night and North Mississauga (3-9-1) Thursday night.
