Gryphons Provincial West men blanked by Hrvat St. Catharines

ST. CATHARINES – The Guelph Gryphons saw their four-game unbeaten streak come to an end Thursday night at Lancaster Park in St. Catharines when they were blanked 5-0 by league-leading Hrvat St. Catharines in Ontario Soccer League Provincial West play.

The Gryphons had two wins and two ties in their previous four games.

Komar Irandost tallied twice for Hrvat St. Catharines while Sandro Rajkovic, Andrew Legget and Michael Greco also scored.

Lubos Jindra recorded the shutout.

The Gryphons are fourth in the 10-team league at 6-7-3. Hrvat St. Catharines leads at 10-2-0 while Ebony Juniors are two points ahead of the Gryphons in second at 7-6-2 and JJD Sports Hustlers are a point ahead of the Gryphs in third at 7-6-1. The Gryphons are a point ahead of Club Italia Juventus (6-7-2), two points ahead of HNNK Dalmacija (6-7-1), three points ahead of Lakeshore United (5-5-3), four points ahead of New Caledon FC (4-6-5) and five points ahead of Mississauga Portofino (4-8-4). HNNK Zagreb trails at 3-4-5.

The Gryphons have two home games left on their schedule, both at the Centennial Bowl.

They’re to host HNNK Dalmacija Thursday at 8:30 p.m. and Lakeshore United Sept. 26 at 8:30 p.m.
