
Gryphons soccer men battle Windsor to standoff
WINDSOR – The Guelph Gryphons opened their OUA men’s soccer league season by claiming a 1-1 draw with the Windsor Lancers at Windsor’s Alumni Field Wednesday.
The Gryphs took 17 shots in the game, nine more than Windsor. The locals also held a 9-5 advantage in shots on goal.

All the scoring in the game was limited to a stretch of three minutes midway through the first half.
Lucas Doros connected for the season opener for the Gryphs in the 21st minute while Tanner Page responded for Windsor in the 24th minute.
The Gryphs took four corner kicks, twice as many as Windsor.
Colin Gander led Guelph with three shots on goal while Doros had two while five Lancers had one apiece.
Svyatoslav Artemenko was in net for the Gryphs while Kaneen Fells tended goal for Windsor.
The teams are scheduled to clash again Sunday at the Gryphon Soccer Complex starting at 4 p.m.
