Gryphs win two, lose two in OUA women’s curling

WATERLOO – The Guelph Gryphons broke even, but failed to advance to the quarter-finals of the OUA women’s curling championship tournament at the Westmount Golf and Country Club.

The Gryphs had a win and a loss on the opening day Friday and followed that with the same thing, a win and a loss, Saturday to complete pool play.

Friday, Guelph bounced back from a 5-3 loss to the Waterloo Warriors with a 6-4 victory over the Western Mustangs. Waterloo scored single one in three consecutive ends for the win over the Gryphs while Guelph scored two in the eighth and final end for the win over Western.

Saturday, the Gryphs doubled the Windsor Lancers 6-3 before falling 4-2 to the Laurentian Voyageurs. Two in the sixth end put the Gryphs ahead of Windsor by four and the teams shook after the seventh end. Guelph never led against Laurentian and the Voyageurs wrapped up the win with one in the eighth.
