Guelph Oaks add to their win streak

MISSISSAUGA – Guelph Oaks made it three wins in a row when they edged AC Soccer Diavoli in Ontario Soccer League Regional South play Sunday at Meadowvale Park.

Matt Nightingale and Santiago Almada hit for the goals for the Oaks while Neil D’Silva scored for Diavoli.

The result left the two teams tied with 3-2-1 records.

The win also came two days after the Oaks blanked Croatia Norval 3-0 at Georgetown.

Martino Raso, Luke Humphrey and Andrew Chung connected for a goal apiece for the Oaks.

Next league outing for the Oaks is to be a match against JJD Sports July 8 at 2 p.m. at Centennial Bowl.

Provincial U21 South

Guelph Gryphons Black suffered a 6-1 loss to FC London Sunday at London’s Hellenic Community Centre.

Brittney Crawford scored the lone goal for Gryphons Black.

Kaila Novak had a hat trick for London while single goals were added by Mackenzie Machado, Keira Zeledon and Ally Hicks.

The Gryphons Red blanked the Kitchener Spirit 3-0 Friday night at the Gryphon Soccer Complex.

Alexandra Zonneveld, Kristin Kohlmeier and Abbey Rimmer had a goal apiece for the Gryphons Red.

The Gryphons Red are 2-3-0 while the Gryphons Black are 1-5-0.

Gryphons Red and Kitchener are to tangle again Thursday night at Kitchener while the Gryphons Black and London are to meet again Thursday at 8:45 p.m. at Eastview Park.


Kitchener & District Soccer League

Men’s Division

Guelph Gryphons scored their second win in five days Sunday when they edged Hrvat 1-0 in league play at Centennial Bowl.

Brett King scored the game’s only goal.

Guelph Galaxy was handed a 3-0 setback by Aurora Lodge Sunday at Cambridge.

Arthur Brasil netted two goals for Aurora Lodge while Mike Rodrigues scored the other goal.

The results leave the Gryphons at 2-4-0 and Galaxy at 0-7-0.

Galaxy is to host Listowel United Wednesday at 8:45 p.m. at the Guelph Lake Sports Field while the Gryphons are to play Banat SFC Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Kitchener.


Women’s Division

Guelph Gryphons Red was handed a 4-0 setback by Rangers FC Monday night at Kitchener.

Adrienne Ruhe Lischke netted a pair of goals for the Rangers while Meaghan Mason and Megan Voutour also scored.

Rangers FC is second in the league at 4-2-0 while Gryphons Red are fifth at 1-2-1 and Gryphons Black are seventh at 0-4-0.

Gryphons Red are to play Banat at Kitchener July 5 at 7 p.m.

Gryphons Black are to play Stratford CT at Eastview Park Wednesday at 9 p.m.
