Guelph Oaks post another shutout victory

MISSISSAUGA – The Guelph Oaks added to their lead in the Ontario Soccer League’s Regional South league with a 2-0 win over Supernova Saturday at Mississauga’s Fallingbrook Park.

The win puts the Oaks at 10-1-3 and gives them a nine-point bulge on second-place Hrvat St. Catharines (8-2-0). However, the Oaks have played more games than any other team in the league – four more than Hrvat St. Catharines and five more than third-place Mississauga Croatia (5-1-3).

Maximillian Raab and Stefano Zicarelli collected a goal apiece for the Oaks while Daniel Keir recorded his league-leading eighth shutout of the season and fourth in as many games.

The Oaks have two postponed games to work into their schedule as their to play BAS (3-5-0) in Guelph and Mustang FC (4-4-1) in Milton.

The locals are also still alive in Frank Docherty Cup play and are to be on the road to play Peniche FC (5-3-2) of the OSL Regional Central league in the quarter-finals. A date for that game has not been set.
