
Guelph prevails over Hamilton in battle of Uniteds
HAMILTON – Guelph United secured a victory over Hamilton United in League1 Ontario Men’s Premier soccer play Saturday night at Ron Joyce Stadium on the McMaster campus with three goals in the second half.
The trio of goals that came in a span of 14 minutes propelled the Guelph side to a 4-0 victory.
Jack Sears had scored late in the first half before Amardo Oakley, Jared Agyemang and Dion Stergiotis netted the second-half goals.
Carter Robart had the clean sheet in net for Guelph United.
Simon Grande was in net for Hamilton United.
The win leaves Guelph United eighth at 7-3-3 while Hamilton United is sixth at 8-5-1.
Guelph United has eight games remaining on their regular-season schedule – four at home and four on the road.
They’re to play consecutive home games at Alumni Stadium against the Simcoe County Rovers (9-2-3) Wednesday at 8 p.m., Burlington SC (3-5-4) July 17 at 6 p.m. and North Mississauga SC (4-8-2) July 22 at 7:30 p.m.
After that they’re to play four consecutive road games before wrapping up their regular season Aug. 12 with a game against Darby FC (3-7-4) at Alumni Stadium at 8 p.m.
