Guelph Redcoats men hit for win over Toronto Nomads

GUELPH – The Guelph Redcoats moved into a tie with London St. George in Rugby Ontario’s Marshall Division Firsts men’s league play Saturday with a win over the Toronto Nomads at Exhibition Park.

The Redcoats scored seven tries in a 41-28 victory over the Nomads who had four tries.

It was the second win of the season for the Guelph side and left them at 2-5-0, same as London St. George. They’re tied for third in the West Division.

Both wins for the Guelph side came in crossover games with teams from the South Division as they had defeated the Vaughan Yeomen about a month ago. The Nomads (2-5-0) are third in the South and Vaughan (1-6-0) is fourth.

The Redcoats are to play the Burlington Centaurs at Sherwood Forest Park in Burlington Saturday at 3:30 p.m.

 

Marshall Division Seconds

The Redcoats were dropped 77-5 by the Nomads in Seconds play.

The Nomads scored 13 tries in the match while Guelph had one.

The Redcoats have lost all seven of their league outings this season and are fourth in the West Division while the Nomads are third in the South Division at 3-4-0.

The Guelph squad is to play the Burlington Centaurs at Burlington’s Sherwood Forest Park Saturday at 2 p.m.

 

Ontario Women’s League

The Redcoats remained undefeated as they slugged it out for a 37-24 victory over the Toronto Nomads in Ontario Women’s League play Saturday at Exhibition Park.

The locals scored seven tries in the game, three more than the Nomads.

The win was the seventh in as many league outings for league-leading Guelph while the second-place Nomads fell to 4-3-0.

The Redcoats are to host the fifth-place Oshawa Vikings (1-5-0) Saturday at 12:30 p.m. at Exhibition Park.
