Guelph Redcoats women hand Saracens first loss of season

MARKHAM – The Guelph Redcoats struck for a 53-41 victory over the Toronto Saracens in Ontario Women’s Rugby League play Saturday at Fletcher’s Fields.

The Redcoats scored eight tries in the crossover match, one more than the Saracens scored.

The win lifts the Redcoats above the .500 mark at 3-2-0. That’s good for second in the West Division while the loss was the first of the season for the East Division-leading Saracens who are now at 5-1-0.

The Redcoats and Brantford are to clash Thursday at 7 p.m. at Eastview Park.

The Redcoats are also to host the Niagara Wasps () July 2 at 8 p.m. at Eastview Park in a match that was postponed in May.
