Guelph Redcoats women trounce Toronto Scottish

MARKHAM – The Guelph Redcoats bounced back from their home loss a week earlier with a 72-19 thrashing of Toronto Scottish in Ontario Women’s League Firsts rugby play Saturday at Fletcher’s Field.

The Redcoats connected for 12 tries in the match and they yielded three.

The locals are second in the West Division at 6-3-0, trailing only the Brantford Harlequins who are at 7-2-0.

Scottish is third in the East Division at 3-6-0.

The Redcoats are to complete their regular season Saturday when they host the Crusaders of Oakville at Exhibition Park. Game time is 1 p.m. The Crusaders are fourth in the West at 0-8-0.


NRU Men A1

The Redcoats ran to a 60-15 victory over the Norfolk Harvesters Saturday at Waterford.

The locals collected 10 tries in the match while Norfolk responded with three.

The victory lifts the Redcoats to 6-1-0 while Norfolk is winless at 0-8-0.

The Redcoats are to host Fergus Highland (3-5-0) Saturday at 4 p.m. at Exhibition Park.


NRU Men A2

The Redcoats were nipped 50-48 by the Grimsby Gentlemen Saturday at Grimsby.

Grimsby won although the Gentlemen scored seven tries, one less than the Redcoats.

The result leaves the Redcoats at 5-2-0 and Grimsby at 3-4-0.

The Redcoats are to host Fergus Highland (1-7-0) Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at Exhibition Park.
