Guelph Regals clipped by Windsor

WINDSOR – The Guelph Regals were held to a single goal as they dropped a low-scoring Ontario junior B lacrosse league match 4-1 to the Windsor Clippers Saturday night at the Forest Glade arena.

Marcus Keleher’s goal almost 14 minutes into the second period opened the scoring in the game and was the only goal the Regals would get. Shane Halliwell and Carter TenEycke assisted on the play.

Windsor responded with a pair of goals later in the period and the Clippers added two more in the third.

Brayden Mayea and Zane Dalpe were involved in all four goals for Windsor as Mayea had two goals and two assists and Dalpe had a goal and three assists. Jacob McLellan scored the other goal while Malikye Good and Jack Bulmer each had one assist.

Windsor outshot the Regals 57-26 including a 42-13 advantage after the first period. The Clippers went 1-for-5 on their power play while the locals were scoreless on two power plays.

Brady Wilson took the loss despite making 53 saves for the Regals while winning netminder Chase Cosgrove had 25 saves for Windsor.

The Regals fall to 0-1-1 with the loss while Windsor improves to 2-1-1.

The Regals are to tangle with the St. Catharines Spartans (1-1-0) Sunday at 7 p.m. at the Thorold arena.
