Guelph Regals doubled up by Niagara
GUELPH – The scoring woes for the Guelph Regals continued Friday as they were doubled 6-3 by the Niagara Thunderhawks in Ontario Junior B lacrosse league play Friday night at the Victoria Road arena.
It was the fourth time this season that the Regals have been limited to five or less goals in a game.
Niagara led 2-0 at the end of the first period and 4-2 after the second.
Aiden Marroni connected for a pair of goals for the Regals while Matthew Vilas scored the other one. Marcus Keleher had two assists while Ethan Harkins, Liam Holwell and John Lombardi had one each.
Nathan Maloney tallied twice for Niagara while single goals were netted by Connor Watson, Chris Weier, Brett Beetow and Kent Baker-Printup. Michael Wilson had three assists while Brandon Sveda and Baker-Printup had two each and Weier, Joseph Conti and Maloney had one each.
Brady Wilson had 24 saves in the Guelph net while Josiah LaForme had the same amount in the Niagara net.
The loss was the fifth in a row for the Regals who are to play the Wallaceburg Red Devils Sunday at 6 p.m. at Dresden.
