Guelph Silvercreeks capture ICBA 22U crown

GUELPH – The Guelph Silvercreeks finished their 2022 season as champions of the Intercounty Baseball Association’s 22U league.

The Creeks dropped the Waterloo Tigers 10-3 in the championship game Sunday afternoon at Hastings Stadium.

Both teams had posted semifinal victories in Guelph Sunday morning. The Creeks edged the St. Thomas Tomcats 2-1 at Pearson Park while Waterloo downed the Welland Junior Jackfish 9-5 at Hastings Stadium.

The Creeks had finished the regular season in first place at 17-2-1 while St. Thomas was second at 12-4-0, Waterloo fifth at 8-10-2 and Welland sixth at 5-12-2.

The Guelph squad also claimed championship wins in the Brampton and Mississauga North tournaments during the season.
