Guelph Storm again downed by Flint Firebirds
FLINT, Mich. – The Guelph Storm yielded the first three goals of the game as they suffered a 4-1 loss to the Flint Firebirds Saturday night at Flint’s Dort Federal Event Center.
Ben McFarlane’s second goal of the season was the lone goal for the Guelph squad. He scored a shorthanded marker on an unassisted effort with 12:30 to go in the game.
Ty Dellandrea led Flint with two goals and an assist while Evgeniy Oksentyuk and Connor Roberts also scored. Riley McCourt had a pair of assists while Cody Morgan and Riley Piercey had one each.
Flint took 37 shots in the game while the Storm took nine in each period. The Firebirds were also 1-for-5 on their power play while the Storm were scoreless on three power plays.
Owen Bennett had 33 saves in the Guelph net while Luke Cavallin had 26 for Flint.
The loss was the ninth in a row for the Storm.
They’re to play the London Knights at London’s Budweiser Gardens Sunday at 2 p.m.
It was the second straight loss to the Firebirds as Flint won 7-5 at the Sleeman Centre Friday night.
