Guelph Storm edged by Otters in Erie

ERIE, Pa. – The Erie Otters scored twice in each of the second and third periods to hand the Guelph Storm a 4-1 setback in Ontario Hockey League play Saturday night at the Erie Insurance Arena.

After a scoreless first period, the hosts struck for three consecutive goals, the first two coming 80 seconds apart in the second period. The Storm avoided being shut out with a goal with just over seven minutes to go in the game, but Erie responded with an empty-netter with 1:14 to play to complete the scoring.

Sasha Pastujov scored a power-play goal for the Storm with help from Braeden Bowman and Cam Allen.

Scoring for Erie were Daniel D’Amato, Carey Terrance, Elias Cohen and Brendan Hoffmann while Cohen, Brett Bressette, Christian Kyrou, D’Amato and Brendan Sellan each had an assist.

Erie outshot Guelph 21-20 and went 1-for-5 on its power play while the Storm went 1-for-6.

Owen Bennett had 17 saves in the Storm net while Aidan Campbell had 19 for the Otters.

The loss was the third in a row for the Storm who are to host the London Knights Sunday at 7 p.m. at the Sleeman Centre.
