Guelph Storm signs two forwards, blueliner
GUELPH – The Guelph Storm added three players to its roster Friday when it signed forwards Ben McFarlane and Steven Grant and defenceman Luka Profaca.
A left winger, Grant was selected in the 2017 OHL draft while McFarlane and Profaca were both picked in this year’s draft.
A Cambridge native, Grant had four goals and 13 assists in 71 games with the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League champion Listowel Cyclones last season. He also had 87 penalty minutes.
McFarlane, who hails from Ayr, had 21 goals and 16 assists in 32 games in AAA minor midget with the Cambridge Hawks this season. He also had two goals and an assist in two GOJHL preseason games with the Cambridge RedHawks before attending the Storm’s training camp.
Profaca collected three goals, six assists and 34 penalty minutes in 31 games of AAA minor midget hockey with his hometown Mississauga Senators last season.
The Storm had 41 players suit up for its final scrimmage of its training camp Thursday morning.
The Storm is to begin its preseason games this weekend with a pair of home games at the Sleeman Centre. Its to play the Peterborough Petes Saturday at 7 p.m. and the Mississauga Steelheads Monday at 2 p.m.
