Guelph Union edged by undefeated NDC-Ontario

WOODBRIDGE – Guelph Union surrendered a goal in the first half as they were edged 1-0 by National Development Centre-Ontario in League1 Ontario Women’s Premier soccer play Friday night at the Ontario Soccer Stadium.

Amanda Allen connected for the game’s only goal.

Libby Brenneman was in net for Union while Sofia Cortes-Browne and Faith Fenwick shared the goalkeeping chores for NDC-Ontario.

NDC-Ontario has done the majority of its scoring in the first half when its scored 19 of the 30 goals it has netted this season.

Union has been a second-half squad, netting 10 of its 18 goals after halftime.

The win lifts NDC-Ontario into a tie for second place and leaves them as the lone undefeated team in the league with a 7-0-4 record.

Union is tied for seventh at 5-4-2.

Union is more than halfway through its regular season and the game was the first of three consecutive road games.

The locals are to play St. Catharines Roma (5-5-0) at St. Catharines June 26 and Pickering FC (1-7-1) at Pickering June 29.
