Guelph Union shuts down BVB IA Waterloo at the Bowl

GUELPH – Guelph Union collected its second consecutive win at the Centennial Bowl as they blanked BVB IA Waterloo 3-0 in League1 Ontario Women’s Premier soccer play Sunday.

The locals scored twice in the first 20 minutes to grab control early.

Victoria Hinchliffe opened the scoring in the eighth minute and she’d also add Guelph’s third and final goal in the 70th minute.

Lauren Bruce connected for the other goal for Union.

Libby Brenneman was credited with the shutout.

The result squares Union’s record at 3-3-0 while Waterloo falls to 4-3-0. Union is tied for ninth in the 19-team league. Waterloo is tied for fifth.

Next game for Union is Wednesday when they’re to tangle with Darby FC (2-3-1) at South Courtice Park. Game time is 8 p.m.
