Guelph United to host Ukraine Red Cross fundraiser

GUELPH – The League1 Ontario men’s premier champion Guelph United FC are to host a Ukraine Red Cross relief fund fundraiser March 24 at the Italian Canadian Club.

The event is to be held in honour of goalkeeper Svyatik Artemenko who was instrumental in the title win by United as well as the OUA men’s soccer championship victory last fall by the Guelph Gryphons.

Artemenko is in Ukraine helping to defend the country against the Russian invasion that started just days after he signed to play with a Ukrainian team this year.

The four-hour fundraiser, set to start 6 p.m. March 24, is to feature special guests, live music, food, silernt auction and a darts tournament.

There will also be a chance to meet the United players and the team will also introduce its new signings.

All proceeds raised will go to the Red Cross Ukraine relief fund.

Tickets are limited and are $10 apiece and can be purchased on United’s website ( Donations will also be accepted on the website.
