Hamilton pulls away to double Guelph Regals
GUELPH – The Guelph Regals surrendered seven consecutive goals as they were doubled 12-6 by the Hamilton Bengals in Ontario junior B lacrosse league play Friday night at the Victoria Road arena.
The Regals led 5-4 just shy of the 11-minute mark of the second period before Hamilton embarked on its run. The Bengals were up 8-5 at the end of the period.
Michael Blaymires, Ethan Harkins, Liam Holwell, David Pavlinich, Mitch Taylor and Carter TenEycke scored a goal apiece for the Regals while assists went to Blaymires, Lucas Hucal, Aiden Marroni, Joel Stevens, Taylor and TenEycke.
Tye Argent and Coltrane Tyson each had hat tricks for Hamilton while Tanner Brennecke and Cooper Day-Allison scored twice each and Dawson Brown and Ken Sproat added single goals. Sproat also had three assists while Yvon Bolduc and Brown had two apiece and single assists were awarded to Hunter Aggus, Tyson Allison, Brennecke, Mitch Dunham, Ty English, Ethan Guimond, Thomas MacDonald, Braedon Saris and Carter Schultz.
Hamilton outshot the Regals 60-35 and went 4-for-8 on its power play while the Regals were scoreless on four power plays. The Bengals also had two shorthanded goals while the Regals had one.
Brady Wilson had 48 saves in the Guelph net, but took the loss. Mitch Dunham had 29 saves for Hamilton.
The result leaves the Regals at 5-11-2 and Hamilton at 12-3-1.
The Regals have two games left in their regular season, both on the road. They’re to play the Welland Generals at Welland Sunday night and the Point Edward Pacers at Point Edward June 15.
