Hespeler Shamrocks also yield two in third in setback
CAMBRIDGE – The Hespeler Shamrocks yielded a pair of goals in the third period as they were doubled 4-2 by the Port Dover Sailors in Provincial Junior Hockey League play Sunday at the Hespeler Memorial Arena.
All six goals in the game were scored at the same end of the arena as Port Dover also scored twice in the first period while Hespeler scored twice in the second.
Matthew Diebolt and Joseph Tabet scored for Hespeler while assists went to Devin Schneider, Kyle Wagner, Dylan Beitz and Matthew Tonner.
Nicolas d’Agostino had two goals and an assist for Port Dover while Hayden Butler and George Kapralos also scored. Ben Mason assisted on two goals and Tyler Heisey, Kapralos and Ethan Ing each had one assist.
Port Dover outshot the Shamrocks 39-35, but was scoreless on two power plays while the Shamrocks went 1-for-5 on their power play.
Max Parrott took the loss in net for Hespeler. He had 35 saves while Andrew Hawkins had 33 saves in the Port Dover net.
The win allows Port Dover (3-6-1-1) to leapfrog the Shamrocks (3-7-0-0) in the Bloomfield Division standings. Port Dover is fifth while the Shamrocks are tied with the Dunnville Mudcats (3-8-0-0) and Niagara RiverHawks (2-6-0-2) for sixth.
The Shamrocks are to wrap up their four-game homestand Wednesday when they host the Grimsby Peach Kings. The Shamrocks have lost all three of the previous games in the homestand and four in a row overall.
