Hespeler Shamrocks clobbered by Wellesley
WELLESLEY – The Hespeler Shamrocks yielded seven goals in the second period as they were dumped 11-2 by the Wellesley Applejacks Saturday night in Provincial Junior Hockey League play at the Wellesley Community Centre.
The Applejacks had a 36-17 advantage in shots on net through two periods and 43-21 overall.

Tyler MacGillivary and Owen Fischer had a goal apiece for Hespeler while Matthew Hayward picked up an assist.
A total of 16 players collected points for Wellesley. Connor Doerbecker and Jake Ertel scored twice each while single goals were netted by Owen Lee, Carson Wickie, Alex Hyde, Isiah Katsube, Curtis Butler, Justin McCombs and Jake Clemmer. Kaden Washkurak had three assists while Lee, Wickie and Quinn Bisch had two apiece. Getting one assist each were Doerbecker, Hyde, Katsube, Butler, McCombs, Brady Brezynskie, Mitch Penner, Austin Cousineau, Kobe Seiling and Conner Bradley.
Joseph Clark started and finished the game in net for Hespeler, but he was replaced by Brandon Snider for three minutes in the second period. Clark allowed eight goals, but made 28 saves while Snider had four saves on seven shots.
Will Crump had 19 saves to get the win for Wellesley.
Hespeler is tied for fifth in the Doherty Division with the Norwich Merchants. Hespeler’s at 5-11-0-0 while Norwich has a game in hand and is at 4-9-1-1. Wellesley is tied for first with the Tavistock Braves. The Applejacks are at 12-2-1-0 and have a game on the Braves who are at 12-3-1-0.
The Shamrocks are to host the New Hamburg Firebirds (fourth at 9-4-2-0) Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at the Hespeler Memorial Arena to complete a second consecutive three-in-three weekend.
