Hespeler Shamrocks downed by Tavistock

TAVISTOCK – The Hespeler Shamrocks yielded three goals in the first period as they were downed 5-2 by the Tavistock Braves in PJHL play Friday night at the Tavistock and District Recreation Centre.

Tavistock extended its lead with the lone goal of the second period before Hespeler scored two in a row in the third period. However, the Braves netted the final goal of the game 55 seconds after the second goal by the Shamrocks.

Owen Goetz and Nick Donelle scored the goals for the Shamrocks while Derek Taylor and Kwang Sheng Luu each had an assist.

Owen Rahn had a goal and two assists for Tavistock while the other goals were scored by Zach Gladding, Luke Fanjoy, Daniel Rudy and Ian Glendinning. Jayden Seguin collected two assists while Nathan Yeck, Carter Arseneau, Andrew Van Boekel, Alexander Thompson, Connor Otto and Nicolas Thibodeau each had one assist.

Tavistock outshot the Shamrocks 30-24 and both teams went 1-for-4 on their power play.

Tyson Gustaw had 25 saves in the Hespeler net while James Hopper had 22 for Tavistock.

Hespeler is sixth in the Doherty Division at 5-27-3-1 while Tavistock is fourth at 19-14-2-2.

The Shamrocks are to host the fifth-place Woodstock Navy Vets (16-18-0-1) Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at the Hespeler Memorial Arena.
