Hespeler Shamrocks hammered by Tavistock Braves
TAVISTOCK – The Hespeler Shamrocks surrendered the first four goals of the game and the last five as they were hammered 11-2 by the Tavistock Braves in Provincial Junior Hockey League play Friday night at the Tavistock and District Recreation Centre.
Tavistock led 4-0 at the end of the first period and 6-2 after the second.

Tommy Zufelt and Owen Fischer each had a goal for Hespeler while single assists went to Matthew Diebolt and Brett Hartin.
Josh Helgerman turned in a seven-point performance for Tavistock as he had two goals and five assists. Owen Rahn had three goals and an assist while Nathan Yeck, Marc Dionne, Ryan Donat, Patrick Vulgan, Zach Gladding and Ian Glendinning fired in single goals. Gladding also had three assists while Drew Gerth, Will Schlotzhauer and Glendinning each had two and Reid Ramseyer, Donat, Vulgan, Nathan Bartlett, Ryan Suljak and Jameson Ritz-Teixeira each had one.
Tavistock outshot Hespeler 37-32.
Brandon Snider started in net and took the loss for the Shamrocks. He stopped 25 shots while Joseph Clark had one save in the final 10:18 of the game.
Tarin Pennington had 30 saves to get the win for Tavistock.
Hespeler was scoreless on three power plays while the Braves went 2-for-4.
The loss was the fifth in a row for the Shamrocks who haven’t won since an opening-game 4-2 victory over the Burford Bulldogs Oct. 2.
The Shamrocks are 1-5-0-0 and are to host the Norwich Merchants (1-5-0-1) Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at the Hespeler Memorial Arena.
