Hespeler Shamrocks rally in third to top Dundas
DUNDAS – The Hespeler Shamrocks erupted for four goals in the third period as they rallied for a 5-3 victory over the Dundas Blues in Provincial Junior Hockey League play at the Market Street Arena.
Dundas had led 2-1 at the end of the first period and 3-1 after the second.
However, the Shamrocks had pulled even by the nine-minute mark of the third and Kyle Wagner fired home the eventual game-winner at 11:17 of the third.
Wagner finished with a pair of goals for Hespeler as he also scored the tying goal. Nick Donelle, Devin Schneider and Brett Hartin each had a goal while Schneider had two assists and Matthew Diebolt, Gavin Logher and Hartin each had one.
Scoring for Dundas were Brandon Waterhouse, Charlie Smith and Ry Beattie while assists went to Smith, Waterhouse, Daniel Moro and Chris Cudek.
Dundas outshot Hespeler 44-39 while neither team recorded a power-play goal, Dundas on two power plays and Hespeler on six.
Gavin McLeod had 41 saves for the win in the Hespeler net while Noah Granata had 34 saves for Dundas.
Dundas is third in the eight-team Bloomfield Division at 4-3-0-0 while Hespeler is fourth at 3-3-0-0.
The Shamrocks are to play their fourth consecutive road game Saturday when they’re to play the Hagersville Hawks (5-0-0-1) at Hagersville. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
The Shamrocks are to begin a stretch of four consecutive home games when they’re to host the Grimsby Peach Kings (5-0-0-0) Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at the Hespeler Memorial Arena.
