Hespeler Shamrocks tripled by Port Dover

PORT DOVER – The Port Dover Sailors broke a 1-1 tie with three consecutive goals on their way to a 6-2 victory over the Hespeler Shamrocks in Provincial Junior Hockey League play Saturday night at the Port Dover arena.

The teams were tied 1-1 at the end of the first period and Port Dover led 4-2 after the second.

Drew Fulton and Nick Donelle scored the goals for Hespeler while Matthew Hayward, Ryan Frost, Kyle Wagner and Devin Schneider each had one assist.

Tyler Heisey netted a pair of goals for Port Dover while single markers were added by Nicolas d’Agostino, Dylan Stroud, Keaton Kewley and Austin Grech. Ashton Mikasko picked up three assists while George Kapralos, d’Agostino, Connor Hisaw and Hayden Butler each had one.

Port Dover outshot the Shamrocks 46-37 and both teams were scoreless on their power plays. Hespeler had five power plays and Port Dover had three.

Max Parrott made 40 saves in the Hespeler net, but took the loss. Andrew Hawkins was the winning goalie with 35 saves.

The result leaves the Shamrocks at 4-9-0-0 and Port Dover at 4-8-1-1.

The Shamrocks were to host the Hagersville Hawks (9-0-1-2) at the Hespeler Memorial Arena Sunday at 3:30 p.m.
