High school games postponed, most moved to Friday

GUELPH – Wednesday’s freezing rain and ice pellets made a mess of the roads and a mess of the local high school sports schedules.

With school buses cancelled and schools closed, all of Wednesday’s games were postponed.

In boys’ basketball, most of the D10 games that were scheduled for Wednesday have been moved to Friday. Some of the game times have been changed, making for an interesting day at Orangeville District Secondary School where both their senior and junior teams are to play twice at home Friday. The four matches are to start at 9 a.m. The Bears are to host both the Centennial Spartans and Guelph CVI Green Gaels.

One game not moved to Friday is a junior match between the St. James Lions and Ross Royals. It’s to go Monday at Ross, right after a senior girls’ volleyball quarter-final.

In girls’ volleyball, all of the D10 games scheduled for Wednesday have been moved to Friday.

In hockey, all games in the D10 girls’ league and the D4/10 boys’ league have been postponed. Make-up dates have not been announced.
