Highland men, women drop their NRU season openers

KITCHENER – Fergus Highland suffered setbacks in their Niagara Rugby Union season openers in both the Senior Men’s Division A and Senior Women’s Division Saturday.

The men were downed 25-6 by the Stratford Blackswans at Stratford’s Army, Navy and Air Force Veterans Park.

The women were defeated 27-17 by Waterloo County at Bluevale Collegiate.

Both teams are to have their home openers at Victoria Park in Fergus next Saturday.

The women are to host the Sarnia Saints at 12:30 p.m. while the men are to play Sarnia at 3:30 p.m.
