Highland squads suffer three setbacks in NRU play

KITCHENER – Fergus Highland was handed a 34-26 setback by Waterloo County Saturday in Niagara Rugby Union Women’s League play at Bluevale Collegiate.

Highland struck for four tries in the match, but Waterloo County had six.

The result tightens up the race for second as Highland stands at 5-2-0 and Waterloo County’s at 4-2-1.

Highland is to host league-leading London St. George (7-0-0) Saturday at 12 noon at Victoria Park in Fergus.


NRU Men A1

Highland suffered a 22-10 loss to the Hamilton Hornets in league play Saturday at Hamilton.

Hamilton had four tries in the match while Highland had two.

The result leaves the teams deadlocked with 3-5-0 records.

Highland is to play the Guelph Redcoats (6-1-0) at Exhibition Park Saturday at 4 p.m.


NRU Men A2

Highland was downed 39-24 by the Hamilton Hornets Saturday in league action at Hamilton.

The Hornets stung for seven tries while Highland had four.

Hamilton is fifth in the standings at 2-5-0 while Highland is sixth at 1-7-0.

Highland is to battle the Guelph Redcoats (5-2-0) Saturday at Exhibition Park at 2:30 p.m.
