Highland women drop Sarnia, but men suffer setbacks

FERGUS – Fergus Highland opened the Niagara Rugby Union’s women’s league season with an 80-10 trouncing of the Sarnia Saints at Victoria Park Saturday.

Highland struck for 14 tries in the match while Sarnia had two.

While Highland won in women’s play, they dropped both of their NRU men’s games to Sarnia as the hosts fell 44-5 in A1 and 59-7 in A2.

The Saints had seven tries to one for Highland in the A1 match and 11 tries to one for the Fergus squad in the A2 match.

Individual scoring details were not available for any of the games.

Highland is to play the Hamilton Hornets at Hamilton May 25 in NRU women’s and men’s A1 and A2 league play.
