Hinchliffe connects as Provincial Elite Gryphons triumph

GUELPH – Victoria Hinchliffe struck for the game’s only goal as the Guelph Gryphons slipped by Durham United 1-0 in Ontario Women’s Soccer League play Tuesday night at the Gryphon Soccer Complex.

Brooke Davidson recorded the shutout, her fifth of the season.

Hinchliffe also scored the lone goal of the game as the Gryphons defeated the North Toronto Nitros Thursday night at Toronto.

Hinchliffe leads the league with 16 goals and has scored in all but two league games this season.

Guelph leads the league at 8-2-1, but have played three more games than second-placed GC United who have won all eight of their matches. Durham United is at 4-4-2 and North Toronto Nitros are at 3-6-1.

The Gryphons are to host Waterloo United (0-7-1) Tuesday at 9 p.m. at the Gryphon Soccer Complex.
