Hinchliffe, Keshoofy Gryphon athletes of the week

GUELPH – Soccer player Victoria Hinchliffe and rugby player Aria Keshoofy are Guelph Gryphon MUSCLE MLK Athletes of the Week for the week ending Sunday.

Hinchliffe, the reigning OUA West player of the year in OUA women’s soccer, recorded a hat trick in a span of 10 minutes in the second half in Guelph’s 5-0 win over the Windsor Lancers at Windsor Friday night. The goals raise her total to five in six games this season and 28 in 52 regular-season games during her time with the Gryphs.

The Gryphs are to host the Algoma Thunderbirds Saturday at 1 p.m.

Keshoofy struck for 19 points for the Gryphons as they toppled the Western Mustangs 49-27 in the first Gryphon Rugby Day celebrations Saturday. A flyhalf, Keshoofy scored a try and converted all seven tries the Gryphs scored in the game.

The Gryphs are to host the Queen’s Gaels Friday at Varsity Field. Game time is 7 p.m.
