
Home teams score victories in senior girls’ basketball
GUELPH – Home teams were the victors Tuesday as the District 10 high school senior girls’ basketball league reached its halfway point of the regular season.
Guelph CVI Green Gaels, Centennial Spartans and Ross Royals claimed victories to grab the top three spots in the league.
The Gaels have five wins, Centennial four, Ross three, Lourdes Crusaders two, Bishop Macdonell Celtics one and St. James Lions zero.
Guelph CVI 59 Lourdes 20
Nyssa Matthews connected for 15 points for the Gaels while Acadia Tremain had 11 and Jasmine Liban added 10.
Olivia Doucette hit five three-pointers on her way to a 16-point outing for the Crusaders. Mckenna Codrington and Gella Oudanza each had two.
Centennial 52 St. James 14
Jenna Davey had 22 points for Centennial.
Arielle Balmelero collected 10 for St. James.
Ross 41 Bishop Macdonell 17
Sierra Curvan’s 11 points led the Royals while Charlie Capper and Ailani Curvan each had 10.
Victoria Gamboa and Martina Gazzola collected six apiece for the Celtics.
Junior Girls
Orangeville 56 Centre Wellington 20
Ayla Corrigale and Katie Firth had 21 points to keep the Bears unbeaten.
Sydney Sellers had 14 for Centre Wellington.
Bishop Macdonell 53 Ross 38
Sydney Richardson had 18 points for the second-place Celtics while Nikole Mija netted 16.
Sam Tesfit had 10 for the Royals and Lauren Skioch had eight.
