Home teams skate to boys’ hockey quarter-final wins
GUELPH – As has been the case in most of the quarter-final playoffs in high school sports this month, home teams were the victors in the District 4/10 boys’ hockey Thursday.
The first-place Centre Wellington Falcons, third-place Orangeville Bears and fourth-place Centennial Spartans posted the wins.
Centre Wellington blanked the eighth-place Erin Raiders 4-0, Orangeville doubled the sixth-place St. James Lions 6-3 and Centennial downed the fifth-place Bishop Macdonell Celtics 4-1.
Scoring details were not reported from any of the matches.
The fourth quarter-final between the second-place Ross Royals and seventh-place Norwell Varsity Reds was postponed to Friday due to the lockdown at Ross Wednesday.
Freezing rain and the lack of bus service to the schools Friday postponed the Ross-Norwell game again. It’s scheduled to be played Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Victoria Road arena.
Winner of that game is to join the other quarter-final winners in the semifinals that are to be played either Wednesday or Thursday.
