Junior Gryphon AAA minor midgets doubled by Oakville

GUELPH – The Guelph Junior Gryphons suffered a 4-2 loss to the Oakville Rangers in South Central AAA minor midget hockey league play Thursday night at the West End arena.

Oakville scored the first two goals of the game and led 2-1 at the end of the first period while all the scoring in the game was completed by the end of the second.

Brock Reinhart and Kyle Kussmann scored the goals for the Junior Gryphs while assists were awarded to Ethan Lewis and Jake Karabela.

Ethan Smyth struck for a pair of goals for Oakville while Zachary Wigle and Luke Misa added single goals. Getting one assist apiece were Michael Dickinson, Wigle, Matthew Zanatta, Joshua Ford and Luciano Checchia.

Evan Parisotto was in net for the locals while Tristan Malboeuf picked up the win in goal for Oakville.

The Junior Gryphs are tied for third in the 10-team league at 8-4-3. Southern Tier Admirals lead at 12-1-1 while Burlington Eagles are second at 10-6-2 while the Junior Gryphs are tied with the Niagara North Stars (7-2-5). Oakville (6-6-2) is tied for fifth with the Grey-Bruce Highlanders (6-7-2).

The Junior Gryphs and Grey-Bruce are to meet Saturday at 4:30 p.m. at the Gryphon Centre.
