Junior Gryphon AAA minor midgets in knot with Halton

MILTON – The Guelph Junior Gryphons battled the Halton Hurricanes to a 2-2 standoff in South Central AAA minor midget play Wednesday night at the Sherwood Community Centre.

Daniel McCuen and Luke Johnston each had a goal and an assist for the Junior Gryphs while Madden Steen and Liam Stadnyk each also picked up one assist.

Richard Szajek was in net for the locals.

The tie keeps the Junior Gryphs unbeaten and leaves them in a tie for second in the 10-team league at 1-0-2.

The Grey-Bruce Highlanders lead at 3-0-0 while the Burlington Eagles and Southern Tier Admirals are both tied with the Junior Gryphs as they both have 2-0-0 records. The Niagara North Stars are next at 1-1-1 and they’re followed by the Hamilton Junior Bulldogs at 1-2-0, Halton at 0-3-2, Buffalo Regals and Oakville Rangers both at 0-1-1 and Brampton 45s at 0-2-1.

The Junior Gryphs are to host Burlington Saturday at 5:30 p.m. at the Gryphon Centre.
