Junior Gryphon AAA minor midgets tie with Oakville

OAKVILLE – The Guelph Junior Gryphons and Oakville Rangers skated to a 4-4 standoff to open their South Central AAA minor midget hockey league season Monday night at the Sixteen Mile Sports Complex.

Scoring a goal apiece for the Junior Gryphs were Liam Stadnyk, Luke Johnston, Ethan Lewis and Joseph Kosakowski while single assists were awarded to Stadnyk, Johnston, Daniel McCuen and Jake Karabela.

Ryan Struthers had a pair of goals for Oakville while Luke Misa and Brett Henderson also scored. Zachary Wigle and Chris Gjoncaj each had two assists while Misa, Joshua Kudo and Matthew Zanatta had one each.

Richard Szajek had 26 saves for Guelph and Tristan Malboeuf had 22 saves for Oakville.

The Junior Gryphons are to host the Niagara North Stars Thursday at the West End arena. Game time is 8:30 p.m.
