Junior Gryphon U18s move to top of league

BURLINGTON – The Guelph Junior Gryphons moved into first place in the South Central AAA U18 standings with a 6-4 victory over the Burlington Eagles Thursday night at the Appleby Ice Centre.

Things are tight at the top of the standings as the Junior Gryphs are a point ahead of both Burlington and the Grey-Bruce Highlanders and they’re two points up on the Oakville Rangers.

Carter Lawson scored twice for the locals while single goals were added by Madden MacDougall, Nolan Hendry, Ryan Goldberg and Luke Tokarz. Will Elliott assisted on two of the goals while Callum Snedden, Tyler Brezynskie and Andrew Benedetti each had one assist.

Max Oldacre was in net for Guelph.

The Junior Gryphs are to host the Brampton 45s Sunday at 5:15 p.m. at the Gryphon Centre.
