Junior Gryphons AAA minor midgets surprised by Halton

GUELPH – The Guelph Junior Gryphons were handed a 3-1 setback by the Halton Hurricanes in South Central AAA minor midget hockey league play Thursday night at the West End arena.

Rowan Aljoe struck for the lone goal for the Junior Gryphs while Madden Steen and Jake Karabela assisted on the goal.

Alex Cunha, Ethan Sharpe and Luca Spagnolo each had a goal for Halton while assists went to Sharpe and Yianni Kaidonis.

Evan Parisotto was in net for the Junior Gryphs while Travis Harrison was in net for Halton.

The Junior Gryphs are third in the 10-team league at 8-3-2 while Halton is tied for eighth at 3-11-2.

The Junior Gryphs are to play the fourth-place Niagara North Stars (6-2-4) at the Seymour-Hannah Sportsplex in St. Catharines Nov. 13. Game time is 8:30 p.m.
