Junior Gryphon U18s triple Southern Tier

GUELPH – The Guelph Junior Gryphons skated to a 9-3 victory over the Southern Tier Admirals in South Central AAA U18 play Sunday at the Gryphon Centre.

Madden MacDougall and Nolan Hendry scored twice apiece for the Junior Gryphs while single goals were netted by Ryan Tait, Ethan Yantha, Austen Pomerleau, Tyler Brezynskie and Callum Snedden. Tait, Connor Gentes and Tristan Tremble each had two assists while single assists were given to Will Elliott, Ryan Goldberg, Yantha, Snedden, Hendry and Andrew Benedetti.

Hayden Sabourin picked up the win in net.

Brody Scott, Nathan Carter and Alex Coates scored for Southern Tier while Jack Ormond and Anthony Dicarmine each had an assist.

Tyler McKenna and Fergus Kearns split the goaltending chores with McKenna giving up seven goals in two periods and Kearns yielding two goals in one period of play.

Guelph is third in the league standings at 5-2-3 while Southern Tier is ninth at 2-4-0.

The Junior Gryphs are to play the sixth-place Niagara North Stars (2-4-2) at Niagara Tuesday at 8 p.m.
