Junior Gryphs AAA minor midgets and Burlington skate to deadlock

BURLINGTON – The Guelph Junior Gryphons battled the Burlington Eagles to a 5-5 standoff in South Central AAA minor midget play Thursday night at Burlington’s Central Recreation Centre.

Luke Johnston and Jake Karabela scored twice each for the Junior Gryphs while Rowan Aljoe added the other goal. Getting one assist apiece were Daniel McCuen, Aljoe, Liam Stadnyk, Brock Reinhart, Johnston, Kyle Kussmann and Avinash Sindhu.

Evan Parisotto was in net for the locals.

The Junior Gryphs are fourth in league standings at 13-9-8 with two games, both at home at the Gryphon Centre, to go in their regular season. Burlington is sixth at 12-15-5 and has finished its regular season.

The Junior Gryphs are to host the ninth-place Hamilton Junior Bulldogs (10-19-1) Saturday at 4:30 p.m. and the fifth-place Buffalo Regals (14-12-5) Sunday at 3:30 p.m.

A win in either game will secure a fourth-place finish for the Junior Gryphs. Two losses will give Buffalo fourth place and the Junior Gryphs fifth.
