Junior Gryphs AAA minor midgets triple Brampton

GUELPH – The Guelph Junior Gryphons struck for their second victory over the Brampton 45s this month as they posted a 6-2 win in South Central AAA minor midget hockey play Thursday night at the West End arena.

The Junior Gryphs had also defeated the 45s 5-2 in Brampton Oct. 7.

Ethan Lewis and Luke Johnston scored twice each for the locals Thursday while Daniel McCuen and Jake Karabela each added a single goal. Getting one assist apiece were Liam Power, McCuen, Rowan Aljoe, Lewis, Joseph Kosakowski, Michael Fischer, Johnston, Kyle Kussmann, Ryan Tait and Karabela.

Richard Szajek was in net for the win.

Nolan Kushnir and Gabriel Tarasca scored for Brampton while Kyle Church, Jake Ford, James Pankiw and Jake King each had an assist.

Joshua Jarvis took the loss in the Brampton net.

The Junior Gryphs are third in the 10-team league at 5-2-2. Burlington Eagles lead at 8-2-1 while the Southern Tier Admirals are second at 7-1-1. Those are the two teams the Junior Gryphs suffered their losses to this season.

Brampton is 10th at 0-9-3.

The Junior Gryphs are to host the Grey-Bruce Highlanders (4-4-1) Saturday at 3:45 p.m. at the West End arena.
