Junior Gryphs girls win four in Cripps house league tourney
KITCHENER – Teams representing the Guelph Girls Hockey Association picked up four wins and two ties Thursday on the opening day of the Jason Cripps Memorial House League Hockey Tournament.
Two of the wins came in the atom girls Graham division as the Junior Gryphs Black defeated Waterloo Ravens One 5-2 and Junior Gryphs White edged Woolwich Wild 2-1.
Junior Gryphs Red dropped Kitchener Lady Rangers Blue 4-1 in atom girls Hicks while Junior Gryphs Red were edged 3-2 by Waterloo Ravens Two.
The other win came in bantam girls Hicks as the Junior Gryphs White blanked Kitchener Lady Rangers Red 5-0. However, the Junior Gryphs White lost to Waterloo Ravens Two by an identical 5-0 score. Junior Gryphs Yellow had a tie and a loss in the division as they tied Wilmot Wolverines 1-1 and lost 1-0 to Kitchener Lady Rangers White.
The other tie came in peewee girls Hicks as Junior Gryphs Red battled Waterloo Ravens One to a 1-1. Also in that division, Kitchener Lady Rangers White downed Junior Gryphs White 3-1 and Waterloo Ravens Three dropped Junior Gryphs Yellow 4-1.
Junior Gryphs Red lost twice in novice girls Graham as they were defeated 6-1 by Ayr Rockets 6 and 4-3 by Waterloo Ravens Three.
In novice girls Hicks, Kitchener Lady Rangers Blue slipped by Junior Gryphs White 2-1.
Waterloo Ravens Four handed Junior Gryphs Red a 3-1 setback in bantam girls Graham.
In midget girls, Kitchener Lady Rangers Blue downed Junior Gryphs Red 3-1 and Grand River Mustangs One dropped Junior Gryphs White 5-0.
Junior Gryphs Red lost 5-0 to Woolwich Wild in intermediate girls.
