Junior Gryphs, Niagara tie one on to remain tied for third

ST. CATHARINES – The Guelph Junior Gryphons and Niagara North Stars tied one on in South Central AAA minor midget hockey play Wednesday night at the Seymour-Hannah Sportsplex.

The Junior Gryphs and Niagara battled to a 2-2 standoff.

Luke Johnston and Jake Karabela scored the goals for Guelph while Brock Reinhart and Avinash Sindhu each picked up an assist.

Niagara received goals from Andrew Teutenberg and Tai York while assists were awarded to Myles Radersma and Conner Thomson-Dick.

Richard Szajek had the tie in net for the locals while Joseph Kamendy picked up the tie in the Niagara net.

The tie keeps the teams tied for third in the 10-team league. Southern Tier Admirals lead at 12-1-1 while the Burlington Eagles are second at 9-6-2. The Junior Gryphs (8-3-3) and Niagara (7-2-5) are tied for third while the Grey-Bruce Highlanders are fifth at 6-7-2.

Next up for the Junior Gryphs is a league match with the Oakville Rangers Thursday at the West End arena. Game time is 8:30 p.m.
